Gut Microbiome and Evidence Based Interventions for Chronic Diseases

FOCUS 1

  • Gut Microbiome & Effect on Methylation
  • Obesity-Gut Relationship
  • Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Probiotic Therapy
  • Intestinal Immunity
  • Dehydration as a predictor of Cognitive Function
Learning Objectives:
  1. Engage the learner in an understanding of the overarching role of the intestinal microbiome in maintaining homeostasis of end organ (i.e. liver, skeletal muscle function, adipose tissue, kidneys) physiological functions.
  2. Engage the learner with the fact that commensal and pathobiont bacteria teach the human host the fundamental language of molecular biology that is vital for appropriate immune functions and adaptations.
  3. Discuss the beneficial effects that the administration of nutraceuticals and probiotic/ prebiotic formulations may have on chronic disease processes.
  4. Explain the aging process and briefly summarise the physiological changes that occur during the aging process that can affect cognition.
  5. Discuss the beneficial effect that the administration of probiotic and prebiotic and other compound formulations may have on the aging process..

FOCUS 2

Detailed Information on Integrative Pathology Testing for the Gut

  • CDSA Stool Analysis
  • DNA PCR
  • Leaky Gut
  • Allergy
  • ALCAT

Detailed Information on Integrative Pathology Testing for Methylation

  • MTHFR Gene Mutation
  • Pfeiffer Protocol
  • Comprehensive Methylation and more...

Learning Objectives

Practical clinical assessments for an integrative approach in gastrointestinal health and methylation.

  1. Learn how to prioritise functional pathology testing
  2. Interpret results and manage complex chronic conditions through the understanding of correlation between gut and organ systems.
  3. You will learn how to unravel genetic aberrations with identification of metabolic blocks in the physiology.
  4. Which test? Why test? What do you understand from testing? How to manage the patient!

This interactive day of education will also include:

Difficult Case Studies - we will provide selected practitioners with the opportunity to present difficult cases including 'non-responders'
